Happy 4th!

Liam

My sweet little William is 4 years old today.  I can hardly believe it.  The kid just keeps growing.  He’s only gained a pound and a half over the last year, but he has outgrown almost all his 3T clothes and is just over 40 inches---that means he is tall enough for a lot of the big kid rides at Disneyland---Yay! I see a Disney visit in our near future.

I’ve decided to continue our yearly survey.

Pinterest Projects, part 2

Things have been really crazy here, so I haven't been blogging much, I'm sorry.

Steve has been working long hours, we reseeded and landscaped the backyard (still in progress), and a kitchen remodel is in the works. But I have had time to do a few things that I have found on Pinterest.

Like, a command center:

And Papa's "Stache" of trail mix.

A Dad Star Wars kit (for my dad):

And the back rub shirt:

I am really horribly awful at finishing projects (I have at least 10 half projects at any given time), so the fact that I did 4 in a month is pretty amazing for me.

Double One

We did it! Sometimes we had to take it a day (or hour) at a time, but we made it through the first year with twins. I can hardly believe it. It seemed like we would never get here, but now it feels like the year has flown by.

It's been a rough year, but we finished strong. The babies have grown by leaps and bounds. I remember when they were so tiny and scrawny that their heads would easily fit in my hand and their little limbs looked like they would snap if you held them too tight. And now Caleb is a chunky monkey weighing close to 22 lbs, and weighing more than 2 lbs more than his baby sister. He and Lily can out eat William (who has a hearty appetite, mind you).

They are cruising and crawling around, and should be walking before too long. They have been a bit behind, which is typical with twins, but I'm ok with it. Its hard enough chasing them down without two little babies running around.

Our first birthday tradition is a bike helmet and a bike ride, so after a 10-mile run, Steve and I took the kid on a 5 mile bike ride. The babies weren't fond of helmets, but we all had a good ride.

We also celebrated with a Dr Suess-themed party, complete with a Suessical performance by my brother Arthur ( who had the lead in high school) and cupcakes.

We even had a ball pit.

I have loved watching them grow from the tiny skinny things with crazy hair that they were into the mobile chunky munchins with crazy hair that they have become.

Milestones and Memories

It's been a week of milestones at our house; Caleb got his first tooth (gotta love late teething nursers!!!), learned to crawl (That kid will do anything for food or drink!),

and also figured out how to get into a sitting position from his belly (once or twice, anyway).

Lily is a little motor, pulling up, crawling around at lightening speeds, and taking what she wants from anybody.

Lily is particularly fond of pulling books of the shelf and taking things out of boxes and bags.

She is getting her two top teeth in, putting our grand total at 11 months at 5 teeth.

William is a pro at going potty all by himself, and even remembers to wash his hands and flush. He knows most of the letters and is working on the sounds. And of course, he is still as silly as can be.

William has always (once we got to 6 months old, anyway) been a decent sleeper, and we have had minimal problems, even with weaning his binky or transitioning him to a big bed. Now, unfortunately, he had a couple of weeks where he insisted sleeping with mom and dad since there were "flies in his room".  Yeah, I know. Of all the things to be afraid of, our kid picks flies. Due to the bribe of cartoons and a Superwhy shirt if he stayed in his room until the sun came up (I can't be Mom until at least 6 am), he finally has gotten back into his own room, 5/6 times. It wouldn't be such a big deal if we didn't get kicked all night and if William's room was downstairs, but I think we will sleep better with the prior arrangements of one to any beds smaller than twin-size. William can also put away the silverware and is (albeit slowly) learning to dress and undress himself, making my load a bit easier.

My kids are getting so big I can hardly stand it! They have even started exercising to be more like Mom:

One of these days I won't have babies at all anymore. While I will appreciate not bring so demanded depended upon, it definitely makes me understand why people keep having babies.

Pinterest Projects

My goal this year is to make 1 project/activity per week that I have pinned on Pinterest. I figure they are pinned for a reason, right?

Here are some of my latest projects:
