Brown Paper Packages, Tied Up With String…

William is definitely showing his likes and dislikes now, and we are getting a glimpse of his little personality.

His current favorites include:

Bananas

Playing Keyboard

The Jungle Cruise

Kiki

Dad

Jumperoo

Plants (once, he even cried unless he could see the trees)

Cuddling

Mom’s Hair

Lights

Binkies---LOVE that he can re-binky himself now! (makes naps MUCH better)

Water

Sitting

Feet (and his hands, your hands, your face, and anything else close enough to grab and put in his hands or mouth)

Being silly

Clapping (“If You’re Happy and You Know It” is starting to grate on my nerves)

and girls (with his big blue eyes, dimple, and social personality, we’re in for a rough time with the teenage years…)

William VERY vocally expresses his strong dislike of certain things such as:

Church (hopefully he’ll grow out of it, but at least we’re in the library)

Loud Noises

Tummy Time (don’t let his cute face fool you)

When Mom is too slow with the food

The Snot Sucker

Frustration

If his grown up personality is anything like how he is now, Liam will be a cute, impatient, nature/animal-loving, cuddly, silly, sensitive, musical, girl-crazy kind of a guy. It will be interesting to see what traits stick around!

Inchworm G. Garff

Today we traded in William for an inchworm.

Usually, he’s pretty content to just sit and play. As he has never before shown any interested in movement (except at night, then he’s ALL OVER THE PLACE!), it was surprising to see him inch along the floor today. Especially considering the squawks he makes during tummy time.

His method of locomotion consists of him getting his feet up under him and pushing himself forward, and often sideways as well.

He’s not fast, nor does he particularly seem to enjoy “inching”, but we’ll take it!

LA Adventures, or, “How Nike Went Bald”

While grooming Nike last Thursday, I found several large growths on his chest.  As they were slightly worrisome, we went to our vet in Los Angeles (we haven’t bothered to get a new vet yet) to have them removed.

While we were waiting for Nike’s surgery, Liam and I met up with friends from work at our favorite Mexican/El Salvadorian restaurant, Gloria’s. 

We then spent the afternoon at the beach with Rushton and Julie. We had loads of fun.

Nike wouldn’t be ready until the evening, so Julie graciously invited us over for dinner with the sister missionaries.  Luckily, this time Liam wasn’t afraid. Just cranky. But then again, Rushton kept stealing his binky and toys, so I don’t blame Liam for being a little on edge.

We made it home without incident.  Well, all except Nike.  Luckily, he had benign fatty growths. But he’s still the one who had his chest hair replaced with staples.

Road Trip with Baby, Take 2

When we drove up to Salt Lake City for Christmas, it was smooth going.  Liam slept the entire drive, and we woke him up every 3 hours to eat.  When we went to St. George this weekend, it was an entirely different experience.

Not only did he refuse to eat much out of the bottle, and barely eat anything every time we stopped, but he’d fuss most of the time he was awake as well.  Let’s just say that this was less than pleasant. Next time, we’re not letting William drive.

Once we got there and got him to bed, it was a different story. William settled quickly into his old routine and was thrilled to see his paternal grandparents and spend lots of fun times with his family.

Mom and Dad were excited to go on their first date since he’d been born.  We went on a bike ride during his nap, and later, we went to see Iron Man 2, got sweet potato fries at a drive-up diner, and  go out for frozen yogurt.

We spent a fun afternoon at the pool.

 

 

The Williams had great fun together.

 

And made a second (this time successful) venture to the petroglyphs.

The dogs had a fun time chasing lizards and cooling off in puddles.

 

Though they were both exhausted by the end that it was faster to carry Kiki than let her walk.

It was fun, especially the drive back home.  William made up for the way there by laughing and giggling and talking the entire time, even though it was way past his bedtime.

Hope to be back soon (if Steve can ever get another weekend off…).
